Playcycled

With nearly a billion customers each year, IKEA generates a lot of cardboard waste, that is not always recycled. If IKEA makes the effort to use recycled and recyclable materials, they can go even further, giving them a second life.

IKEA offers its customers the opportunity to give their cardboard packaging a second life. With every purchase in store, “Playcycled”, a kit made of recycled and recyclable tools is offered. Composed of screws and fasteners, it allows the transformation of cardboard in a playful and creative way. An augmented reality application is used to visualize the stages of transformation of the cardboard into a new object.
